Complete Setup for Restaurants

Set Business Type to Restaurant

During account setup or in Settings, select "Restaurant" as your business type. This enables restaurant-specific features: Kitchen Display System (KDS), Table management, Menu organization with categories, Tip collection, Shift reports.

Create Your Menu

Navigate to Menu Management. Create menu categories: Appetizers, Salads, Entrees, Desserts, Beverages, etc. For each menu item, add: Item name, Description, Base price, Preparation time, Allergen information, Photo.

  • Update seasonal items regularly
  • Organize categories logically

Configure Item Modifiers

Set up modifiers for customization: Size options (Small, Medium, Large), Temperature (Hot, Iced), Protein choices (Chicken, Beef, Tofu), Add-ons (Extra cheese, bacon, etc.), Substitutions. Assign prices to paid modifiers.

  • Limit modifiers to avoid complexity
  • Train staff on modifier usage
  • Price add-ons appropriately

Set Up Kitchen Stations

Configure kitchen stations/departments: Grill, Fry station, Salad prep, Desserts, Bar. Assign menu items to appropriate stations. Orders will automatically route to the correct kitchen display.

Enable Kitchen Display System

Set up tablets or screens in the kitchen as KDS. Orders appear automatically when placed via POS. Kitchen staff can: View order details and modifications, Mark items as "preparing" or "ready", Bump completed orders, See order times and priorities.

  • Use waterproof cases
  • Train kitchen staff on the system

Configure Table Management

Set up your floor plan with tables. Assign table numbers or names. Configure: Seating capacity per table, Section assignments for servers, Table status tracking (Available, Occupied, Reserved). Manage reservations and waitlist.

Set Up Stripe Terminal

Connect your Stripe card reader. Configure for: In-person payments, Contactless transactions, Tip collection (suggested percentages), Split payments. Test transactions thoroughly.

Configure Tip Settings

Enable tip collection at checkout. Set suggested tip percentages (15%, 18%, 20%, 25%). Allow custom tip amounts. Configure tip pooling or individual distribution. Track tips per employee for payroll.

Set Up Shift Reports

Configure daily shift reports showing: Total sales, Number of orders, Average ticket size, Payment methods used, Tips collected, Cash drawer reconciliation. Schedule automatic generation at shift-end.

Train Your Staff

Test Complete Order Flow

Run test orders through the entire system: Enter order at POS, Verify it appears on KDS, Mark items as ready, Process payment with tips, Print receipt, Close the order. Test edge cases like modifications, split checks, discounts.
